About the Programme

Education Built on Evidence

The research and development work at Vaels International School spans over a decade and a half of structured inquiry into early childhood education, curriculum design, and learning outcomes. Led by an expert R&D team with deep specialisation in early childhood and primary education, the programme draws on international pedagogical research, longitudinal observation of student cohorts, and iterative curriculum refinement.

This sustained investment in research gave rise to the Kindle Kids International Curriculum (KKIC) — a proprietary, inquiry-based framework that now underpins learning at the Pre-School and primary years across both campuses. The R&D programme continues to evolve, informing teaching practice, assessment design, and professional development across the school.

Early Childhood Development

Research into developmental psychology, play-based learning, and the cognitive and social-emotional milestones that shape the foundational years from ages 2–8.

The KKIC Origin

How 15 Years of Research Became a Curriculum

The Kindle Kids International Curriculum (KKIC) is the direct product of sustained research and development in early childhood and primary education. The R&D team — comprising specialists in developmental psychology, curriculum theory, and classroom pedagogy — spent over a decade observing, testing, and refining learning frameworks before the curriculum reached its current form.

KKIC is built on three foundational commitments: that children learn best through play and inquiry; that assessment should illuminate growth, not just measure performance; and that every learner's pathway is distinct. These principles, validated through longitudinal observation of student cohorts, now define the learning experience at the Pre-School campus in Neelankarai and inform the pedagogical approach across both campuses.

Foundation

R&D Programme Established

An expert team of early childhood education specialists is assembled to study international curriculum models and developmental frameworks.

Pilot

First Framework Trials

Early inquiry-based learning frameworks are piloted across pre-school cohorts. Observational data informs the first iteration of what becomes KKIC.

Development

KKIC Framework Formalised

The Kindle Kids International Curriculum is formalised with structured subject frameworks, developmentally appropriate milestones, and portfolio assessment protocols.

Expansion

Primary Years Extension

Research expands into the primary years. Curriculum is vertically aligned from early years through to Grade 5, with cross-disciplinary project-based learning integrated.
